It started out weak but man did it get better.

I remember when I was a kid, I would sit infront of the tv every night at
7. Flip on the tube and watch TNG. It was exciting to see what new
adventures Picard and co. would get in next. Back then I admit I
appreciated
TNG for it's strange aliens and space battles than character development
and
good drama, but that was then, and this is now. Looking back at it now I've
changed by views. Why yes I realize that the first two seasons were weak
(with some exceptions such as Measure of a Man) it did improve. And after
the monumental "Best of Both Worlds" it was at full steam it dealt with
such
complex issues as the plight of war veterans (The Hunted), child abuse
(Suddenly Human), political torture (Chain Of Command part 2), and feelings
of self doubt and loyalty (Preemtive Strike) among other things. It had
memorable performances from nearly all cast members. (Patrick Stewart,
Brent
Spiner, and Michael Dorn especially). It also feature memorable secondary
characters such as Guinan, Barcaly, Cheif O'Brien, and Ensign Ro. It
featured some of the best special effects on television. And all and all a
great way to carry out the Star Trek legacy.
